Default Everybody is in a guild?

First of all, Hi!

Im new to Gw and this forum looks like it has a wise community so i tought id sign up, and maybe learn something.

Now for my question. I started my own guild together with a good friend. but when we started recruting we always get the awnser: No sorry im already in a guild. Then when you ask about it it almost always turns out to be a guild with 1 or 2 players. And they dont want to give up their guild because they are the Leader. (personaly i dont see what the fun in being a leader is when there is no one to lead)

I think this is beacause early in the game you can create your own guild very easiley (sorry im dutch forgive me for my bad english) and it cost only a 100 gold

what do you think?

How many people are in your guild right now? Please say 2 cause that would be really funny. In all seriousness though recruiting good people is difficult. If you just approach random people and ask them most likely they aren't going to leave their guild even if it is only 2 people. Your best bet is to find people you play missions with a lot, add them to your friends list, build up a relationship with them. I imagine they'll be a lot more willing to leave their 2 man guild or whatever if you do that.

Your right, there are a lot of little guilds out there that wont be competitive at all. But if they just want to have that tie, thats fine. My guild has 7 members, and I know 5 of them in rl. Were not big, but we just chat and hang out together and work toward common goals, hoping to do guild matches soon. And sarus is right...Don't just recruit randomly. Recruit people you group with for a mission. Openly recruited members won't be dedicated to your guild anyways.

thats right... making guilds is far too easy. i think a guild should have 6 members (for tournament + 2 henchmen), better of course 8. these 2-man guilds are crap... they can hardly get a guildhall, are even too small to do missions or quests. and since allmost every guild is recruting, they wont grow.

im currently also in such a guild, so i know what im talking. the only thing we use of the guilds features is the special chat funktion... i dont think ill stay there unless we get more members, which is very unlikely.

why we formed this guild? bc we know each other in real life and all bought the game same day to game togheter... but that isnt enough for a guild. i think most of these small guilds have the same problem.

why i stay in that guild? bc i dont know anyone else playing gw having a guild with at least a guildhall or 6-8 members. (bc everyone is in a 2-man guild, some even alone...)

i also agree that none of these guilds want to go togheter with another, bc everyone is leader (btw: im not). maybe a solution to this would be a more complex hierachy system. i once read an interview that this will come soon.
->not only one leader, or no leader, only officers.

btw: is there a guild of this forum? maybe this would be a good idea,

haha thanks. We have some very knowledgable people in our guild so I'll have to pass on the credit to my guildmates. Unfortunately, we havn't been holding the hall too much in the last few days. People caught on our to our build and have come up with good counters. We are of course working on ways to counter the counters. I'd have to say it's PvP at it's finest.

My advice would be to just play often and don't worry about building the guild. When you play with someone you know is good (ie. teamworthy) and they don't have [XXXX] after their name, invite them. I see people asking for invites into guilds all the time...

Seems like almost every single guild is someone running around by themselves or with 1 or 2 other people.

i've had a guild with a friend for 4 days.
we just recruited anyone, even people who were LVL1, they might turn out to be really good one day
and then my friend made an officer, and within a day that has given us three members
havin a cape helps too i reckon

i recruited someone of my friends list, because we made the way to kryta, and done gates of kryta 2 times or so. than when i logged on ( still didnt make it ) he was there looking for a party, and i asked if he would put me in. When we were doing the mission he sais, shame ure not in my guild. and i said well come join mine. And he did, turned out to be a fine officer. So get a friendship with a few players and than try to recruit them. Takes a long time, but than u already know him or her and it plays a bit better.

I know that it's the "trendy" thing to do but I intend on starting a guild once I own the cd. However I won't be inviting/accepting anyone until after I've met a few personal objectives with the game and thereafter it'll be by invite only, and only people who I've played with and who fit my style. I don't care if the guild grows super slowly.

Well, in all honesty, one of the things that attracted me to guild wars was having my own guild and getting to design the cloak and such. When i started the game, we (me and my boyfriend) saved up the 2000 gold so that we could get the cloak at the same time as making the guild.. and now i've realised that absolutely everyone is in a guild, so i don't know if the guild is ever going to go anywhere, i'd like it to, but hey, i've got a nice coordinating cape so i'm kinda happy, despite only having a 3 man guild
But yeah, I think it is too easy to get a guild.. should have a system like in World of Warcraft - you need 12 "signatures" to actually start a guild, so, every guild is guaranteed at least that many players.

I'm not in a guild. I tried to make my own but everyone is in a guild it seems. Kinda odd.

I have a ton of guild invites but I've no clue who these people are. I really hate random invites. I'd rather find a guild with more than 10 in it that consist of talented and kind players that I can get to know. I'm real edgy on accepting any of these guild invites in fear that I'll be the only adult within lol..

...Then there's the pvp and pve conflict. I want a hardcore guild that's highly active in both of these features.

I joined a guild, I was the 2nd to join after a great experience of a team up with the inviter. I turned around a recruited someone who I had then helped gett hrough a sticky quest for them.

then somhow the Guild creator/leader dropped out. And I became the leader. Now we are just two agian.

Now, I haven't actively gone after recruiting folk very much.

And I would fold the whole thing (if i could figure out how, 1st off) and if I could find capes i really liked.... yeah, I'm shallow. I really like the cape that I designed for the guild. It is simple.

Does anyone know how or if one can change the name of the Guild?

Think that's stressfull?

Try running 3 nations in Shadowbane. You don't play, you talk politics 24/7. Only thrill I ever got was pking dumb members with the ol' /sick um guards ban habit.

Lol, just a prediction here... then you would be frustrated by not being able to start your own guild and design your cape...

This is a great system. Anyone can start a guild, but if they don't grow they will wither away or stagnate. Guilds merge and grow, people adapt. I am in a guild with a fair number of players, nowhere near the cap but enough to have 8 on for PvP pretty regularly, and I looked around for a while before deciding on a guild (actually, I was even in a guild before I found my home - not every guild is a good fit, even if the folks are nice). Anyone can cheaply accoutre themselves with a cape and have fun designing it and all, but if you want much more from it it takes work - that's nice, it lets people design fashions and such, but those who want real teamwork, good PvE and/or PvP will realise that the groups who play together frequently develop good communication, good skills and are fun to be with. If being in a guild is about being leader or having a prety cape that you designed, then being part of a big guild isn't for you anyway, and you should be happy you have a creative outlet in your small guild setup - after all, when you join into a long standing guild they are unlikely to make you leader or ask you to design a new cape for them to honour your arrival .

Things will tighten up soon. I'm in a guild of five and we're going to make a recruiting run now. If it doesn't work we're going to go else where.

The poster that mentioned being the only adult is kind of why we don't just go now.

We know that we'll treat everyone fairly and with respect but we don't know that a new leader would. We want adults that are serious about the game but are respectful to others. Everyone over 16 says they're mature but the first time they lose a PvP match or a PvE fight the real maturity shows whether 16 or 60.
